This 160-page book collects articles from authors such as Nick Morgan, Robert Cialdini, Linda A. Hill and Nancy Duarte. It’s a quick read that gives tips on the science and research on influence & persuasion that can be useful for business professionals.
Since it’s from Harvard Business Review Press (it collects thematic articles previously published in the Harvard Business Review magazine), these are high quality articles.
Does it give a lot of info?
Well, with any collection — this book can serve more as introduction or in a way, lighter reading on the topic. I feel that going into the book and digesting one article at a time can be a great way to get more out of your typical reading diet. So much of reading nowadays can be online clutter from the paranoia & stress of these weird times.
Other times, we scroll randomly online and read every other post that a friend shares. In that respect, reading this book gives more ROI for someone curious about this topic.
In the end, would I recommend this book? Well for readers curious about influence & persuasion, this is an interesting read. For others looking for a deeper look on the topic getting Cialdini’s own book Influence may be a better place to start.
Pros: Quick read, good insights from various authors.
Cons: Not too deep, gives more of an introduction to various ideas & research.
TLDR: If you dig this topic, this book is worth a look or borrowing from your local library.
I wrote a lot of other book, course and video reviews too.

[Submissions for Review Consideration]
- Are you an author who wrote a jazz, guitar or music book?
- Have you created a DVD or an online video course or subscription based website?
- Would you like me to review your book/course?
Please send me a message at azsamad2 at gmail.com with:
For courses: a link to the course/video/product + access info etc.
For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.
Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
