I first heard about Dan Lok from a comment left by a fellow musician on Facebook. This was way before he blew up on YouTube and on the internet in general.
I looked up more about him and found an offer to receive one of his books for free. This was that book.
I read it in 2018. Today, I reread the book to see what I thought about it now. This review covers my main impressions about it & who it might be useful for.
The book has four parts:
- F.U. Money Lifestyle
- F.U. Money Myths
- F.U. Money Mindset
- F.U. Money Business
The book shares Dan’s perspective on personal finance & income goals. Dan also talks different ways to make money & his personal journey.
Mindset is one of the biggest topics in the book. He explains how conventional thinking stops most people from becoming more successful.
Is this different than other books in the genre?
No. But, what makes it fun to read is how his personality splashes throughout the book. As the title might imply, there’s a lot of colorful language used. Some people might find it offensive. If you’re looking for something more plain, don’t get this book.
The version I had (PDF) also included hyperlinks to various videos & offers that Dan has. Those are different ways to work with him or to buy other products. There are also a lot of worksheets that help the reader digest the info in more depth.
At 284 pages, this is a big book to read. But, his language and flow makes it enjoyable.
In short, if you’re looking for some ideas & inspiration, this book might be worth reading. If you’re looking for specific actionable financial advice & tactical info, don’t get this.
Did I get a lot from reading it again? Yes, I did.
Would I recommend it my fellow musicians & creatives? Yes.
Pros: Fun book to read about how to make money.
Cons: Language might bother some people. More mindset & strategy based, less tactical advice.
TLDR: If you’re curious about this topic or been following Dan’s work online, check out this book.
Dan still has an offer running for the digital version here.

[Submissions for Review Consideration]
- Are you an author who wrote a jazz, guitar or music book?
- Have you created a DVD or an online video course or subscription based website?
- Would you like me to review your book/course?
Please send me a message at azsamad3 at gmail.com with:
For courses: a link to the course/video/product + access info etc.
For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.
Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
