Book Review: Becoming Flawesome by Kristina Mand-Lakhiani

July 24, 2023 by azsamadlessons 4 Comments

The things about self help or inspirational books is that it can be an addiction of its own.

There are so many books with old ideas being repackaged into new dresses or boxes to sell to a new generation.

With this book from Kristina Mand-Lakhiani, I have to say that the honestly and her personal stories was refreshing. There were many moment where I ended up highlighting points and had eureka moments.

But man, this book is long!

At 292 pages, this is not a casual read at all. Some chapters deal with deep emotional topics that address long term trauma and are literally fighting with your beliefs and indoctrination from society’s expectations.

The whole concept of “flawesome” is a pretty cool catchy phrase though & I do see this being something that is likely to be a great ongoing personal brand thing for Kristina.

I would advise anyone reading this to take your time and not rush through it. Some chapters are definitely worth savoring, highlighting and reflecting. With the accompanying “reflection points” at the end of each chapter, you can definitely get the most value that the book has to offer. In that regard, probably the best thing to have with you while reading this book is a notebook to write your thoughts on each reflection point.

All in all, this is a good first book from Kristina Mand-Lakhiani. I’m sure it will be helpful to anyone who takes in the time to read each chapter with the patience it deserves. There are so many exercises and terms/concepts/ideas to digest.

Pros: Good concepts, interesting ideas & the reflection points at the end of the chapters help put the concepts in perspective.
Cons: The book can feel a bit too much content wise and this might lead to some people not finishing the book. It can be overwhelming to read this.
TLDR: If you’re looking for a book that is pretty much like a whole bunch of self help and therapy concepts in one place, this might be a good book to get.

I received an advanced review copy of this book courtesy of Nataliia of Natasha Zo. The review reflects my honest thoughts on the book. Thanks Nataliia for reaching out to me.

[Submissions for Review Consideration]

  • Are you an author who wrote a jazz, guitar or music book?
  • Have you created a DVD or an online video course or subscription based website?
  • Would you like me to review your book/course?

Please send me a message at azsamad2 at gmail.com with:

For courses: a link to the course/video/product + access info etc.
For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.

Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!

I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p

NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
