The thing about Taylor Welch is that he is unapologetically true to himself.
My initial encounter with his work was via his old monthly Traffic and Funnels memos with Chris Evans (later renamed The Wealthy Expert and then renamed again Insider’s Access Monthly).
Reading anything that Taylor wrote, I was initially turned off by it. It feel like it was screaming with unreasonable cockiness and swagger.
However, over many months of reading, consuming content and later on his various trainings, I grew to enjoy Taylor’s approach and voice. It delivered the value it promised even if sometimes it sounded too confident.
Probably my favorite trainings that I’ve heard him do are two called Organic Macro and Organic Micro which shares his approach to creating content on social media. Even though it’s old now (relative to social media years), I find it still timeless because of the underlying concepts.
Anyway, talking about this new book specifically… it’s interesting to see how Taylor’s writing has grown over the years. This book is probably the most fat-free in your face information dense book I’ve read from Taylor.
With his current monthly memos, there’s a lot of references to his life and family besides just work… but with this book, although he has included some personal stories, this is a very compact collection of his approach to building a consulting business.
Although I have read some of what he shares via his previous Facebook post, memos, tweets and blog posts… it’s nice to read all this in one place.
This book is a much smoother read compared to his previous book Common Sense Consulting & the other version called The Consultant Next Door.
The rhythm of the sentences are also a delight to read in this new book. His honesty with his most recent business struggles is also refreshing as it shows a kind of vulnerability that I haven’t seen in his writing.
My favorite chapters are Chapter 5: Scaling Acquisition, Chapter 6: Demonstration and Chapter 7: Monetization Models. These have useful frameworks that help me see the gaps in my own business & give me ideas for what to do next.
In conclusion, if you’re a consultant or someone thinking of exploring this as your business, Taylor’s book is potentially an accelerant for your mind & business. I recommend this book highly as a gateway into his world.
Pros: Well written, direct, info-packed guide to starting, building and growing a consulting business.
Cons: Although a fast read, some may still be confused with the concepts introduced in each chapter.
TLDR: If you want to monetize your knowledge, experience or skills, this is a great book that can give you the right frameworks to build a successful consulting business.

I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
