Firstly, this book came out in 2018 – which means it’s an old book relative to the pace of change in social media. That being said, it’s a valuable & eye-opening read if you’ve never seen the extent of the work that takes place behind the scenes of huge social media accounts.
For the most part, the book demonstrates the amount of focus, the kind of work & testing needed and the daily discipline that comes with growing a social media presence.
My favorite part of the book is the breakdown of how he approaches testing in terms of content. It really reveals the depth of work done at this level of the game.
Now, you might ask:
Does this book have any actionable steps?
Can I use this to recreate the kind of success mentioned in the book?
Well, my take on it is that reading it gives you the necessary reality of the conditions needed for this level of success. So yes, read it for sure.
Now, the follow up to that – the work, well that’s up to you. Part of it will need a lot of time and/or a lot of money. You can apply the concepts on your own or get a team together to kick this off and get the ball rolling.
In the end, there’s no real magic button to make you an overnight success BUT knowing the environment and conditions needed gives you a fighting chance.
Pros: Good book, great insights from people at the top of the game.
Cons: Written in 2018, new edition coming up in October 2020.
TLDR: A good book for those who want to get this level of success on social media.
