Okay, this is not a music book. But if you do any writing online or have a blog, this may be of interest to you.
This book by successful Malaysian blogger Cheesie of Cheeserland.com documents her journey as a blogger from 2004 to 2016. It’s an interesting book as it reveals how her writing process was like as a blogger & how she handled the issue of sponsored posts, monetising her blog & also dealing with issues of ‘selling out’ as she progressed in her journey. Well, that’s part of it. She also shares a story about 4 marriage proposals she received, dealing with haters as well as fame.
I feel this book is an important candid document of an era where blogging became a big thing & how it’s changed now with the rise of social media influencers.
The 100-page book is funny, insightful and is entertaining to read. For me personally, I love discovering how Cheesie eventually found her niche by focusing on her love for Japan & Japanese culture. She became a celebrity in Japan as well (via her blog) and was on Japanese television too.
It’s great to see how that was an evolution (finding her niche) rather than something that happened immediately. Nowadays, people may feel the need to immediately find their niche or their thing & although that happens, I think it’s not necessarily the case for everyone.
In conclusion, this book is not a step by step roadmap on making a living as a blogger. But, it’s a great book to find out how one person did it. There’s a lot of lessons in this compact book. For anyone who is considering blogging full time or using blogging as part of their content creation strategy, I would recommend this book.
Pros: Fun read, lots of interesting stories told in a very personal way.
Cons: None
TLDR: If you’d like to read about how a blogger made a living blogging in Malaysia, get this book.

I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig? đŸ™‚
