This 38-page book from Warren Nunes was released back in 1979. It’s a slim book wth 5 chapters:
- I-VI-II-V Chord Progressions
- III-VI-II-V Chord Progressions
- Recycling Chords
- Four String Chord Exercises
- Harmonized Scales
The material is well organized & the voicings sound great! Some of these have doubled notes which introduce voicings that I haven’t played as much.
The cool thing about a book like this is that it is manageable to complete. Sometimes some books have a lot of examples (too many?) that fewer people complete working through the books.
In terms of the concepts introduced, the text by Joel Hipps certainly helps give context to how the chord progressions are developed. Notation wise everything is clearly and beautifully notated in standard notation and chord diagrams.
All in all, this is pretty cool book and if you happen to stumble on a copy, it might be worth getting. That being said, Warren’s The Jazz Guitar Chord Bible Complete (which is in print and easier to find – has similar material too).
Pros: Good examples & well organized.
Cons: None.
TLDR: A good book for learning practical ways to play voice-led chord voicings through common chord progressions.
Where can you purchase this book? This book is out of print so do try looking on Amazon & eBay in case you want to get a copy. As an alternative, get “The Jazz Guitar Chord Bible Complete” which is easier to find.

For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.
Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
