Website Review: Guided Practice Routines by Levi Clay

July 28, 2025 by azsamadlessons Leave a Comment

Have you ever been stuck in a moment while you’re practicing guitar and then you suddenly think to yourself:

What am I doing?
Why am I even practicing this stuff?

Well, you’re not alone.

I for one have caught myself in moments where I’m not even sure whether what I’m practicing is working or what should I practice next.

At moments like those, it would have been great to have this website that Levi Clay has crafted.

Guitar Practice Routines is something that could have not existed in this format prior to this era of the internet. To oversimply it, this is kind of like a guitar gym membership along with having an experienced trainer.

The thing about typical standalone guitar courses is that they work on one thing, but what if you need to work on some technical stuff, some fretboard understanding and some chordal material? What usually happens is that you would need to get different courses for each, but even then it can be a challenge trying to decide what to work on, and how much to work on each.

With Levi’s website he gives you more than 100 hours of material that you can choose from depending on your level and your needs so that you can find the perfect routine for you, in one place. This is pure convenience, and the fact that someone as experienced as Levi teaching and GUIDING you (hence the name of the site) is the main strength of the site.

If you go into the site, you’ll find five sections:

  • Courses (9 available so far!)
  • Routines (divided into WOD – Workout of the Day, and 150 Legacy Routines)
  • Livestreams (8 available at the moment)
  • Community (Links to his Discord channel, along with a guide to join)
  • Transcriptions (a library of over 300 guitar transcriptions from his YouTube channel, to be honest, even this is worth the price of admission, but in the larger picture – the actual courses and routines are an actual gold mine)

I have to say I’m pretty biased when it comes to Levi’s material, I’ve loved his work over the years so just seeing how his explorations, experience and teaching has culminated into this website makes me genuinely excited for the current generation of guitarists who have access to this kind of material with this level of guidance.

What a great time it is for learning the guitar!

I can personally see myself recommending some of my private lesson students to subscribe to Levi’s website as a supporting material for the classes they take with me. Yes, it’s that good.

In conclusion, I really wish I had Levi’s website when I started off years ago – it would have saved me so much time going through different books, websites, courses and teachers – and would probably have gotten me better much faster. That being said, even now I find that his website is great for my development because there are always things to work on. So, if you want better results from your practice sessions, do consider this website!

Pros: A lot of material, well made and organized for dedicated guitarists who want to improve their playing. Practicing with Levi’s videos makes it more fun to work on fundamental material that can be dry when you practice on your own.
Cons: None.
TLDR: If you’re frustrated of working on your guitar skills in a haphazard way, this website might help you get your practice sessions together.

Thanks to Levi Clay for inviting me to experience Guided Practice Routines. Although I received complimentary access to the website and community, my review reflects my personal honest experience of the material.

[Submissions for Review Consideration]

  • Are you an author who wrote a jazz, guitar or music book?
  • Have you created a DVD or an online video course or subscription based website?
  • Would you like me to review your book/course?

Please send me a message at azsamad3 at gmail.com with:

For courses: a link to the course/video/product + access info etc.
For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.

Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!

I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p

NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
