In chord melody arrangements, how do you do guitar fills?

8 Tips for playing fills in between chords in a chord melody arrangement

Tip #1: Learn the arpeggio
Tip #2: Play these really fast and clean
Tip #3: Transcribe Joe Pass lines
Tip #4: Transcribe Charlie Parker lines
Tip #5: Resolve the line into the bass note of the next chord
Tip #6: Combine arpeggio and scales. Then, end on a note in the next chord.
Tip #7: Play the fill softer than the melody.
Tip #8: Practice in a rubato setting.
