Ben Eunson is a force of nature. For one thing, he keeps himself busy releasing awesome videos almost every single day. Ben has his Instagram page, his performance videos & his educational video content. Now, even during the quarantine era, Ben is still prolific.
This bundle combines Ben Eunson’s How to Practice Volumes 1, 2 & 3 into one collection. Together, this forms an powerful educational resource for the serious improvising guitarist.
In Volume 1, Ben begins with the fundamentals covering scales. The course is divided into 3 sections. First, Ben introduces the scales. Then, he shows the fingering possibilities. Lastly, Ben uses a V7-I and a II-V-I progression to connect the scales.
In Volume 2, he goes into explaining arpeggios, both triads & 7th chords. The fingerings are what make this volume special. Even though I already knew the arpeggios, the volume showed me how Ben approached them. His left hand fingerings help his legato based style. Like many things in music, it’s all about the details.
For the 3rd volume, Ben combines everything that he’s built in the previous two volumes. He uses an F blues chord progression as well as a standard diatonic progression to show us how to use the material & build some serious musical chops. Ben also explains EVERY SINGLE BAR, how everything works harmonically as well as the arpeggio & scales choices for each chord. In a way, this is like a practical harmony class for linear improvisation.
The best part of this course is how systematic & clear it is. It’s obvious that Ben put in a lot of care to explain & organise this material. The videos in the course are very helpful to put in context how everything sounds when played smoothly. Ben’s voice is calm throughout and sets the tone for everything that comes along.
In the end, I felt that this course was something that I wish I had access to when I first started this journey. Even now, I want to include this material into my practice routine to make sure I don’t have gaps in my playing. If you’re new to jazz guitar & need a strong foundation, do consider this course.
Pros: A very systematic approach to learning the guitar fretboard
Cons: None.
TLDR: If you love Ben’s playing or want to systematically approach the guitar to develop your linear improvisation skills, this is a great course to invest in.
I received a complimentary review copy from Ben Eunson. Thanks Ben!

Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
