This book focuses on the sound of Add9 triads. Hristo Vitchev presents these in two keys: F major & F Melodic Minor. From triads, Hristo add the 9th as a suspension or inner line movement.
This creates a more fluid way of looking at diatonic triads.
As I practiced the material in this book, I kept asking myself:
“How do I use this in my playing?”
So I started to look at smaller portions of the workouts to make sense of it.
The more I played, the more the movements made sense. This is not beginner type material. This is best suited for the more advanced guitarist or driven intermediate guitarist.
You can get a lot of mileage from this material if you know what Hristo is doing with the triads.
I started taking parts of it & applying these to jazz standards. Then, the book’s topic opened up to me. I began to play common jazz progressions & had more fun with it.
In conclusion, this book is great to develop more interesting voiceled chords. The Add9 sound is more modern. and open compared to traditional triadic voicings or standard 4th voicings.
So, if you want to spice up your chord vocabulary, check this book out. This material works for composers & improvisors too.
Pros: Great book with voiceled chordal ideas.
Cons: Some of these stretches are difficult & many chord changes are tricky.
TLDR: This is one for fans of the Mick Goodrick or George Van Eps books.
This book was a gift from Hristo to me. Thanks Hristo!

Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
