I saw this book for long time before I finally decided to get it. And now, once I have it – it’s clear to me that this forms the beginning of Chase’s jazz guitar teaching approach (or at least as best as I can see it, not being a member of his program, Chase’s Guitar Academy.)
This book has a simple premise: you basically get 60 jazz lines, 5 per key, that cover all 12 keys.
Some books give you 5 or 10 or 15 lines and transpose them into 12 keys (giving you seemingly more lines but actually are just transposed).
But, Chase’s book actually legitly gives you 60 different lines. The whole idea is to work on a line per day for 5 days a week (taking weekends off) until you complete all the 60 lines. Chase suggests taking 15 minutes per day for this practice routine.
This gives you just enough to work on, without getting overwhelmed. The lines sound nice too and the fingerings are comfortable, intended to get you playing the lines as fluid as possible.
This reminds me of the kind of material I’ve seen from guitarists like Peter Farrell who focus on fingerings that flow, instead of fingerings that necessarily follow a particular fingering system (Leavitt, CAGED, one finger per fret) rigidly.
This is good stuff.
In conclusion, if you’ve ever been curious about Chase’s eBooks, this is probably the best one to start with. There is also a more deluxe version of this book that comes with videos of Chase demonstrating the material. I didn’t get that one so I can’t comment on how those are. If budget is a concern, the eBook version should be good enough. Also, you do get backing tracks in every key at 80bpm, 160bpm and 240bpm. That’s great help for anyone who wants to shed the material and not have to find (or make) your own backing tracks to practice with.
Pros: Good material, systematic clearly notated fingering, good practice plan included.
Cons: No audio examples included with the eBook.
TLDR: It feels like this book is probably one of the strongest books that Chase Maddox has released, probably because it was the first one. If you’re looking for jazz lines to shed as part of a practice routine, this book can be a good one to get.

For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.
Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
