I’ve been following Gary Vaynerchuk for awhile before I finally saw him speak live in Kuala Lumpur back in July 2018 . That was a transformational experience for me. It was soon around January 2019 when I went to seriously explore using Gumroad as my main platform for selling digital products from eBooks to eventually courses.
A huge part of me going all out with digital products is because of Gary Vee’s content & his worldview. He is also responsible for me finally exploring running Facebook ads which became a helpful part of my online business strategy.
Anyway, since then I have been listening less to Gary but decided to revisit this book that he released in November 2021. In some ways, reading this now probably is better timing for me… but that’s a story for another time. Let’s get into the book.
The book is divided into three parts.
The first part introduces the emotional ingredients that Gary has identified in himself and his thoughts on them.
The second part are examples of real life situations where you can apply the relevant emotional ingredients so that you can face challenges in the work environment in a more positive ways.
The third part presents exercises that you can do to internalize the emotional ingredients that Gary introduced so you get more benefit from the book.
In many ways, this book really exudes Gary’s personality. If you’re a fan of Gary Vee’s message on social media, you probably have heard most of the things he mentions here. But, I gotta say it’s nice to see everything organized in this format.
A lof of what Gary suggests seem like the right thing to do, but it doesn’t mean that it’s the common thing or easy thing to do. Some may feel that Gary has shared the obvious, but just because it’s obvious doesn’t mean that it actually happens that way in real life.
In some ways Gary presents the most positive idealized approach to challenging work & life situations.
Will I be able to apply all this immediately?
Probably not.
Has it helped me look at my own situation and circumstances in a more positive way?
Yes.
In fact, Gary has treated the emotional ingredients as a set of tools that you can choose to bring out to help you face your challenges at work. That makes it feel like a workshop presented as a book.
Unlike a typical workshop though, Gary makes it fun & as I said earlier… the book exudes Gary’s personality throughout.
In conclusion, if you run a business, work in a business or aspire to run a business someday… you might benefit from at least reading this book once. The ideas and perspective can be helpful. After reading this, I can safely say that this book and Crush It! are the two favorite Gary Vee books I’ve read so far.
Pros: A good book on the things that Gary Vee talks about all the time.
Cons: Might be most suited for fans of Gary Vee and not so much someone without as much context of his work & content.
TLDR: If you like the kinds of topics that Gary talks about, this is probably the best book he’s written on the emotional and psychological side of running a business.

Please send me a message at azsamad3 at gmail.com with:
For courses: a link to the course/video/product + access info etc.
For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.
Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!
I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p
NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?
