Book Review: The World in Front of You: Letters from a Father on Becoming Self-Made by Darius Foroux

March 9, 2026 by azsamadlessons Leave a Comment

The best kind of books are the ones that come across with an honest air of sincerity and with a clear idea of who it is for. It’s also important that a book reaches the right person to read it, otherwise it exists, but fails to fulfill its purpose.

This new book by Darius Foroux is interesting because he wrote it for his first child, in the form of daily letters leading up to the child’s birth. A unique sense of love comes across because he is writing to his child, rather than a general audience.

This of all things reminds me of The Boron Letters by Gary Halbert, which copywriter/marketer Gary Halbert wrote in prison to his son, Bond Halbert. That is one of my favorite copywriting and marketing books ever. A huge reason for that is the same kind of sincerity that comes across in the writing, and also in the writing style that blends copywriting and storytelling in the form of personal letters.

Of course, Darious is in a completely different situation – he is busy working on his latest online course and figuring out how to prepare for his new life as a father. He also reflects on his life and distills the most significant lessons he’s learned, so he can share this with his child.

All this is endearing and touching. As I read the book (in one sitting), I felt a deep connection to his writing style, with the book and the message that he wanted to share. The vulnerability that is in the words makes this book special.

In conclusion, if you’re looking for an honest and beautiful read about life and about living a good life, this might be a good book to check out.

Get it here from Amazon.

Disclaimer: I am on Darius Foroux’s email newsletter list on Substack and I received a complimentary Kindle copy of the book during the launch period. Even though I received this for free, my review is honest and reflects my thoughts on the book. I did not receive any monetary compensation for this review. This review was also not solicited, I wrote it because I was inspired by the book after reading it.

[Submissions for Review Consideration]

  • Are you an author who wrote a jazz, guitar or music book?
  • Have you created a DVD or an online video course or subscription based website?
  • Would you like me to review your book/course?

Please send me a message at azsamad3 at gmail.com with:

For courses: a link to the course/video/product + access info etc.
For books: a link to the book (Dropbox) or PDF attachment (if it’s small) for review consideration.

Depending on whether I dig the book/course, I’ll let you know if I do plan to review it!

I cannot guarantee a review for every submission & if I’m not too into it, I may opt not to review it. I mean, it’s better to get a good review that for me to write a bad review just because it’s not a match for the kind of stuff I dig right? :p

NOTE: All reviews reflect my honest personal opinion so be aware that I will point out both cool Pros and Cons that I see in the work. You dig?

Hi Az Samad here! I am disclosing that I’ve included certain products and links to those products on this site that I will earn an affiliate commission for any purchases you make.

Whenever possible, I've tried to include a mention that the link is an affiliate link but since the site is so big by now, I'm including this note so so that you are aware.

That being said, as I always mentions - all reviews reflect my honest opinion of the book/course/product. My goal is not to recommend everything to everyone but to give you as much information about my experience with it so that you have a better idea whether it might be for you (or not).
